Medical Equipment Electronics Repair

7 Oct 2026

Medical equipment contains the same kinds of electronics as other equipment, with the added responsibility that its owner decides when it is safe to use again. Repair is the electrical part of that chain.

Medical monitoring equipment in a clinical setting

What the repair covers

The electronics of the equipment: power supplies, control and interface boards, and monitor modules. The fault is diagnosed on the bench, the failed part is replaced, and the board is tested electrically before it is returned.

What it does not cover

Clinical calibration, medical-device certification and approval to return equipment to clinical use. These remain with the equipment owner and the responsible biomedical engineer, and the repair record is provided to support them.

Check the service contract first

Some manufacturer contracts and warranties are affected by third-party repair. Confirm the terms with your service provider before submitting equipment that is under contract.

Preparing equipment

Remove patient data and accessories you do not want to travel, follow your infection-control procedure, pack boards in anti-static packaging, and describe the fault, any surge or liquid exposure and the equipment's use.

Why records matter

A repair record stating what was found, what was replaced and how it was tested gives the biomedical engineer the evidence needed to decide on return to service.

Have Equipment That Needs a Second Opinion?

Describe the equipment and the fault. Sinsal will confirm whether it is a fit for diagnostics and repair before any work begins.
