What types of electronic equipment do you assess?
Sinsal assesses specialized and high-value electronic equipment across medical technology, telecommunications, networking infrastructure, industrial automation, and enterprise and OEM electronics — particularly equipment that's expensive to replace, back-ordered, or no longer manufactured.
Do you repair equipment immediately after it is submitted?
No. Every engagement starts with a technical assessment — identifying the fault and confirming whether it can be repaired — before any repair work is scoped or begins.
What happens during an assessment?
Assessment combines visual and microscope inspection with electrical testing — power-rail analysis, oscilloscope measurements, signal tracing, and continuity testing — to isolate the fault to a specific stage of the circuit. This produces documented findings and a repairability recommendation.
How long does an assessment take?
Assessment time depends on the equipment, fault condition, documentation available, and testing required. Sinsal will provide an update after the initial review.
Will I receive approval before repair begins?
Yes. Repair work proceeds only once the recommended scope has been confirmed with you — it is never started on the basis of the initial assessment alone.
Can you repair equipment without schematics?
In many cases, yes — diagnostics relies on direct electrical measurement rather than schematics alone. Where documentation doesn't exist for an assembly, reverse engineering and technical documentation is itself one of Sinsal's core services and may form part of the assessment.
Do you work on obsolete or unsupported equipment?
Yes. Support for obsolete and difficult-to-replace assemblies is a specific focus of the lab's work, particularly where a replacement unit is no longer manufactured or is impractical to source.
Can you guarantee that every item can be repaired?
No. Not every fault is repairable. Recommendations are based on technical findings, component availability, safety, expected reliability, and economic viability — never assumed in advance of an assessment.
What happens if repair is not technically or economically viable?
You receive a documented finding explaining why, so the decision to repair, replace, or return the equipment as-is is based on evidence rather than a guess.
How should equipment be packaged before delivery?
Equipment should be packaged securely to prevent damage in transit. Because appropriate packaging varies by equipment type, contact Sinsal directly for guidance specific to what you're sending.
Can I send photographs before delivering the equipment?
Yes — the Request Assessment form includes an optional photo upload, which can help with an initial review before the equipment arrives.
How can I track my equipment?
Equipment submitted for assessment or repair receives a traceable work order reference, which can be looked up on the Track Equipment page at any time.
Do you support organizations outside Nairobi?

What information should I provide when requesting an assessment?
