Component-level fatigue
Electrolytic capacitors dry out over years of operation, connectors wear from repeated insertion, and solder joints crack under thermal cycling as a board heats and cools through normal use. None of this is unusual — it's the expected way electronics age.
Environmental and electrical stress
Heat concentrated around high-current components, moisture or liquid ingress, dust buildup that traps heat, and voltage transients from an unstable supply all accelerate failure well before a board's expected service life.
Why the cause matters for the repair decision
